Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse (2027 movie)

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is the biggest strike casualty yet in terms of release date changes, since it is part of a prized and successful franchise. Sony is taking the movie off of the calendar for now, since actors cannot do any voice work. It was set to open over the Easter holidays next year on March 29, 2024. This year, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse earned a dazzling $677 million at the global box office.

Even before the strike, the film was expected to be delayed but the labor strife further complicates matters. The Spider-Verse features are enormous undertakings, and the pressure is high to push the envelope after the original Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) won the best Oscar for animation and became a genre-breaking hit.

That's true, I've matured a lot since the first Spiderverse movie.

I'm more into grown-up things now, like Daredevil.

Into the Spider-Verse, released 2018, grossed $394 million
Across the Spider-Verse, released June 2023, grossed $690.8 million
Beyond the Spider-Verse, to be released June 2027, gross?
This will have a slightly shorter release gap then the one between the first two film in the series. If it follows the progression from the first to second (and of course my logic is infallible), we should be looking at a box office of approximately $1.2 billion

I think for the bigger franchises, such as Toy Story, the audience retains interest and a new generation of kids jumps aboard.

But I agree, it's kind of a crazy amount of time in between. My son Jonah was 6 years old when part 2 came out and he'll be 10 when the next one hits. Might not be avoidable though, these movies are incredibly expensive and time-consuming to produce, even with computers.
