The first movie. One of the best comedies ever.

The sequel... not so good.

I've watched the movie literally dozens of times. Probably more than any other movie. My wife doesn't understand how someone can laugh so hard at something they've seen over and over again.

I couldn't bring myself to watch the sequel all the way through. I stopped the movie at about half-way and went back to the video store to get something else.

I have seen this movie more than any other as well. At least 100 times. I worked in a small video store in high school, and every friday or saturday evening, we had a tradition of watching it. It truly never got old. I am still happy as hell to put it in the DVD player on poker night.

It sucks harder than you guys think that Friends sucks. Not an ounce of wit or charm in the whole sucky thing.

It works quite well as an extended music video though.

I will say Blues Brothers is from a period of time where several movies considered to be "classic comedy movies" to me are anything but and not appealing to me.

I haven't seen it since college though so maybe I'd think differently now.

Animal House would be in that generation of movies that I just don't laugh at when I watch. Like maybe two chuckles. and that one i have seen recently. I sat there stone faced and my wife fell asleep.

and that's not to say I am not a fan of many of the people in these movies. or a fan of many of their other movies.

I love THE BLUES BROTHERS to frickin' death. Hilarious and eminently quotable. And then there's the music.

Not all wives. That's a pretty broad brush you're waving there, fella.

Caddyshack
Super Troopers
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Best in Show
Stripes
Midnight Run
A New Leaf
Waiting for Guffman
Sunshine Boys
Beerfest
Odd Couple

Most women I know like a different kind of comedy from most guys I know. Also, the women I know, except for a few romantic comedies, don't watch and rewatch and say lines from movies as much.

I think someone just needs to put Rob out of our his misery.

Anyway, Blues Brothers is terrific!
We got the special edition DVD a while back, and we watch it on occasion. It's also one of those movies we'll stop and watch if we're surfing and come across it!

About the only thing the Mrs and I can stand from the sequel is the Ghost Rider's in the Sky bit. Otherwise, it's crap.
