Marvel has announced that the movie will be entitled The Marvels, since it will feature both Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel.

Let's hope it doesn't get cancelled half the times that their respective comics have over the last 5 years...

I forgot or else never realized there are going to be 4 MCU movies released this year. That Phase 4 trailer gives me goosebumps, but Marvel has to be counting that people are desperate to go to the theater again to see their heroes even after getting WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier without leaving the living room.

This is the "filler phase" while we wait for them to come up with clever ways of incorporating the FF and X-Men into the MCU...

I'm disappointed Marvel isn't honoring Stan Lee's intent by moving the release date to June 2023 so they can kick sand in Shazam's face.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but I'm in the camp that thinks the FF already exist in another dimension of the Multiverse that gets folded into the MCU. No idea on how it will work with the X-Men.

This is part if the reason I'm frustrated they switched Captain Marvel to female. I used to love Ms. Marvel. It works better to me with Marvell as a male Kree and then Danvers being Ms. Marvel. Then they could have killed off Marvel and had Rambo be the new female Captain Marvel.

So, anyway (cleaned up a bit of wildly off topic stuff).
I too wish they had started with Mar-Vell but I'm a fan of Carol being Captain Marvel now. They could have had him die heroically (not of cancer) in the film as part of her arc, instead of Annette Bening as a strange hybrid reimagining.

It was pretty much like the Jude Law bad guy was Mar-vell. Not in name, but in story structure.

I liked her better as "Warbird" from the Kurt Busiek run of Avengers.

It seemed to me more like they were just doing that modern Marvel thing of relaunching the series with new creative teams for hype. Does it sell that poorly?

Apparently, the book doesn't sell but most comics don't sell well. The modern Marvel thing of relaunching books is often a cover for bad sales.

Apparently, the book doesn't sell but most comics don't sell well. The modern Marvel thing of relaunching books is often a cover for bad sales. It's also a way to artificially bump sales as well -- I've read that the mentality now is to think of runs by individual creative teams as "seasons". So if you change the creative team, you also relaunch the book to signal "this is a good jumping on point now" to the readers. That said, they've done it several times during runs where they aren't changing creative teams -- Mark Waid's Daredevil, Jason Aaron's Thor, and the Immortal Hulk spring to mind -- so who knows. The thing is, it does seem to work -- the new #1 issue does sell better than the previous issues. Personally, I've lost all interest in it, it's become so common that there's nothing special to a new #1 for most of these characters. Back in the early 90s, Spider-Man or the X-Men getting a new #1 for a new series was a huge deal and people were excited to get in on the ground level of a new numbering. Now, who cares?
