Guardians of the Galaxy? Really?

http://latino-review.com/2012/06/28/exc ... -revealed/

Quote:
They’ve been buying up domain names as we rapidly approach Comic Con, everyone knows Marvel is about to drop a movie-bomb on us and now, Latino Review knows what it is.

Usually good old Da7e is trotted out of his studding pasture to talk to you about comics he knows something about, this – however – is bit out of my league and, of course, out of THIS WORLD.

Marvel’s plan has been 2 superhero movies in their Unified Film Universe each year. Next year will bring us the new entries into the ‘Thor’ and ‘Iron Man’ and 2014 will bring us ‘Captain America 2′ and…

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.

Opens the door for a Korvac crossover with Avengers.

That is a strange choice. I would have gone for Great Lake Avengers myself.

I'm betting the current version, or a mix of the classic (future) and modern. But come on...rocket? Groot? Please happen.

I've never read an issue of Guardians of the Galaxy. So my only knowledge of them minimal and based on occasionally reading about them when they were in someone else's book. Is there any way Quasar could be in the movie? Maybe there is a team member who wouldn't translate well so they just use Quasar instead? When I think space I think Quasar. I like Quasar.

Quasar!

I'm probably the only person who LOVES Gene Colan's art on the first GotG story.

As much as I like Starhawk and Nikki, it's a shame that the look of the characters became "superheroes in space." It's also a shame that Jim Starlin never had a good long run with them. He was made for those characters.

Quote:
Created by Arnold Drake and Gene Colan, the Guardians of the Galaxy were introduced in 1969 as a team of heroes in the 31st century -- each member the last of his kind -- that unites to defend Earth's solar system from the invading Badoon. The Guardians were reintroduced, and reimagined, in 2008 by Dan Abnett, Andy Lanning and Paul Pelletier in a series that spun out of the "Annihilation: Conquest" storyline. The team roster included Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Star-Lord, Mantis, Moondragon, Drax the Destroyer, Bug and Major Victory.

Feige indicated in April that any "Guardians" movie would center on that 2008 version. “We are very excited about bringing things like that, maybe things exactly like that, to the screen,” he said. “When you tell people, you know what would be really cool? This movie, and there’s a raccoon, and there’s a tree … And they go, ‘What?’ And people like you know what it is, and get excited. And the majority of people go, ‘Did you say a raccoon and a tree?’ ‘Oh yeah, they’re going to steal the whole movie. They’re hilarious.’ ‘Okay, I’ll believe it when I see it.’ I like that.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, of all the projects on the studio's development slate, "Guardians" is most ready to move into production, and "fits well with Marvel’s grand plans," propelling the movie past such frequently mentioned movies as "Black Panther," "Doctor Strange" and "Iron Fist." Perlman's script reportedly captures a tone similar to that of "The Avengers," and contains plenty of comedic elements.

Drake and Colan are both gone. Drake may come back from the grave if Stan makes a cameo in his place.

All that Guardians post makes me even more sure Thanos was a set up for that movie.

Okay, if Rocket Raccoon is in it, then I'm behind this movie 100%.

This will be amazing. One is left to wonder why they cancelled this, my favorite book of the last 10 years.

Never cared for either one, felt they took away from the concept.

Well, Marvel made it official today at San Diego. I am not excited about this.

Probably because they found out you liked it and didn't want cute girls to think they were friends with you.

Quasar!

Sometimes really cool ideas can come from taking an existing concept and turning it on its head. For example, Alan Moore's Supreme -- what if Superman discovered a limbo where all other versions of himself existed?

Quasar is a character like that. What if Green Lantern was a total fruit and no one liked him? Needless to say -- game changer.
