Needed someplace to post this and I know we have some other Cap fans here, so why not? The great Larry F. Houston did this recreation, which is interesting -- Quote: I did a recreation of the cover of Captain Marvel Adventures #23 and redrew the black Steamboat character as a normal human being. Mark Lewis inked it and colored it. It was for Roy Thomas' FCA magazine, which is kind of a magazine within his magazine Alter Ego in 2016. Surely an improvement on the original --

You can really see the popularity of Disney's Snow White with these two stories featuring Dwarves Trolls...

All these beautiful covers have me really wanting a comprehensive reprint program for all the old Marvel Family stories. They are definitely a highlight of Golden Age superhero books.

They are definitely a highlight of Golden Age superhero books. Other than the Spirit, there's no Golden Age comic more consistently good than the Fawcett Captain Marvel books, IMHO. The writing isn't anything to scream about, but it's fun enough and does the job. The art is remarkably consistent -- like animation consistent -- and it's all just top drawer stuff. Sadly, Steamboat is probably the major roadblock to more Golden Age Shazam reprints (and possibly sales, as well). It's already the likely culprit behind the repeated cancellation of The Monster Society of Evil. Thanks Jebus for public domain scans! No idea what kinda guys have the time to scan in hundreds of 60 page comics, but God bless you rascals.

I have a great Golden Age Captain Marvel book (the actual book).
Fun story, I don't think I told it on here.
A few years back (maybe three years ago), my nice neighbor asked me if I wanted some comic books he had from his Dad's estate. He said his dad had just kept them in the attic and never even got them out when they were little (neighbor is older than me). I told him I'd take a look, and if they were valuable I'd help him get to a dealer. He said "No, we don't want anything for them, it would just be nice if they went to a good home, someone that likes comics." I said we'll see.
He took me to them, and it was only about, I'd say 50 comic books. But they were almost all Golden Age. Superman, Captain Marvel, Kirby Captain America, etc. A few from the 1960's, but mostly older. They were a little bit "fried" in the condition, but intact with decently shiny covers.
I told him I could take them, that they were valuable. I said "even in this condition, each one of these could be about $25, and a few might be of high value."
I introduced him to my comic books shop owner (good friend), and asked him to do his bestest, fairest quote. Comic book guy said I've got to give you something for finder's fee -- I said "here's what I'll do. I get to pick two of them for me as a finder's fee. That's it.
The payment for the whole lot ended up being $3,000. Needless to say, the neighbor was blubberingly grateful, comic book store guy was happy as a clam. As usual, the hero of this story is ME.

That one is not mine. I was at work and pulled an image off the wubs.
I have taken pictures now and will post if I can get imgur to like me.
The other one I picked was Action Comics #60.
