Is there such a thing? Starting to really hate Amazon and just want to be able to upload via USB my books and comics to a tablet, without all the bells and whistles.

Does anyone have any experience with the Kobo they want to share?

Surface Pro is not open source, but it's just a regular PC hard drive that would work fine.

You can get an Android tablet and flash with Lineage OS to remove all the Google. I have not done this myself but it's not uncommon. I'd google around for the best ones, no clue which that might be.

I can try that. I wonder if they sell unlocked Android tablets anywhere so I don't have to go through all the rooting etc.

I wish there was a good one with a matte screen or color e-ink that was thinner and larger.

I'd check reviews before buying. I love Linux but I'm not sure the mobile experience is quite ready for general use yet.
