I finally finished watching the first season of The Twilight Zone (quite possibly the best show ever to air on television). I don't have the energy to post a full review, so instead I'll post the episode title and a few words about it.

If you type the episode title into Wikipedia, it'll take you to a page with an episode description.

"Where Is Everybody" (Rod Serling) - Excellent episode right from the start. Very moody, an engaging lead who has to carry the bulk of the show on his own, and a nice twist at the end.

"One For The Angels" (Rod Serling) - A lighter episode, establishing early on that the show won't be all dark and gloomy.

"Mr. Denton On Doomsday" (Rod Serling) - A clever western doubling as an arms race allegory. Martin Landau is great as the town bully.

"The Sixteen-Millimeter Shrine" (Rod Serling) - One of the few I didn't like.

"Walking Distance" (Rod Serling) - One of the best of the first season. A simple moral, well-executed. It's a theme that'll be explored in future episodes, as well.

"Escape Clause" (Rod Serling) - Alright, but it's a bit off. I think the tone's maybe a little too light for the subject matter.

"The Lonely" (Rod Serling) - Excellent sci-fi episode.

"Time Enough At Last" (Rod Sterling, adapting a short story by Lyn Venable) - The first "classic" episode, and it lives up to its status. Burgess Meredith is perfect.

"Perchance To Dream" (Charles Beaumont, adapting his own short story) - Kind of "meh". The pacing is all over the place, and the ending doesn't work as well as it should. Disappointing.

"Judgment Night" (Rod Serling) - Very stylish episode that kept me guessing until the end.

"And When The Sky Was Opened" (Rod Serling, adapting a story by Richard Matheson) - Creepy little episode that builds in intensity throughout. I'm pretty sure an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation was inspired by this one, featuring Dr. Crusher.

Edited to add:

According to Wiki, I'm right. :D

"What You Need" (Rod Serling, adapting a story by Lewis Padgett, aka Henry Kuttner and C.L. Moore) - Good episode.

"The Four Of Us Are Dying" (Rod Serling, adapting the unpublished story "All Of Us Are Dying" by George Clayton Johnson - One of my favorites. Love the jazz score.

"Third From The Sun" (Rod Sterling, based on a story by Richard Matheson) - A bit too much story for the episode length, but still effective.

"I Shot An Arrow Into The Air" (Rod Serling, story by Madelon Champion) - I have a soft spot for this episode because it's similar to the Jean-Paul Sartre play, "No Exit", which is a favorite of mine.

"The Hitch-Hiker" (Rod Sterling, story by Lucille Fletcher) - Very creepy ghost story. I really liked it.

"The Fever" (Rod Serling) - Liked the episode up until the walking slot machine, and then it lost me.

"The Purple Testament" (Rod Serling) - Another favorite episode. I wish I could write half as well as Serling could.

Way to pad that post count!

This may be my favorite show of all time, as far as writing goes.

"Elegy" (Charles Beaumont) - A little too 50s B-Movie for my taste. Not helped at all by the acting, which was just awful.

"Mirror Image" (Rod Serling) - Much better. Well-executed, moody, suspenseful. Everything I want in a Twilight Zone episode.
