I keep wanting to do this for the 7 or 8 longboxes I have left of my comic collection, but haven't pulled the trigger. On a side note, holy fuck how's Stanley?

Hey, hi Stanley. About twenty comics a volume, which seems about right. Did you remove excess pages
like back covers and ads or did you go with the whole issues? Add any Contents pages, Doot reviews, or
extras?

sorry i missed these posts, i'm not getting e-mail notifications for some reason.

jeff:

hi! doing ok. hope everyone is healthy. i've done something like twenty volumes over the past year. i even spent an incredible amount on a complete set of MIRACLEMAN eclipse issues and had them all bound in one volume.

ocean doot:

concentrated on 189-300 at the moment, but as i re-acquire older stuff i'd like to start with byrne. i had a full set of 150-300 bound many years ago, but had to sell them in a cash emergency.

beachy:

people who do this share huge "maps" of issues. the x-titles are a HUGE map; i mainly only followed the main title plus essential crossovers. most of these x-men volumes are upwards of 28 issues each (the absolute max you want to attempt). i just include the comic and any inserts, cards, whatever, that came with them. part of why i prefer this format is you get all the textures and smells that can't be reproduced by a screen.

alantig:

the place(s) i used in the 2000s no longer exist. lately i've been using herring & robinson in san francisco. zero complaints.

beachy:

forgot to mention, i did not add any title pages, contents, etc. i'm getting ready to do a byrne SHE-HULK book, and in that one i plan to include a couple issues of MARVEL AGE and an interview from COMICS INTERVIEW.

I wish I knew you wanted the Miracle Man comics. I have nearly a complete second set I could have parted with.

You still would have had to paid someone for the copy of the Evil Kid Miracle Man issue, though (If I remember
correctly how that title was selling in the past). Sadly I had stopped buying duplicates shortly before that one.

american comics (mailorder) sent me the first two issues of the eclipse MM as freebies with an order i made back when they were more-or-less new. it was my first successful order after sending in several boxes of dogeared newsstand issues they rejected for being in terrible condition. they finally took pity on me and sent me the comics i wanted, plus some freebies, including a MM and V FOR VENDETTA poster. i was very happy.

I had been following Miracle Man in Warrior Magazine from the beginning, so I was pretty sure that the Eclipse
colorized repeats would do well. It was American Comics, where I preordered something like 40 copies of issue
#1 from (I was speculating, and I had heard beforehand that much of the print run had been damaged). I did
okay on them later. It was also American Comics who I sold most of my New Mutants #1 copies to (for $5 store credit
each). New Mutants was the issue that I had really decided to speculate on, and I preordered at least 50 copies
at about 40¢ apiece. Those were the only two comics that I really went wild with buying multiple copies of.

Speaking of binding, I've always shied away of the idea, but there are two series that I am still considering:
the entire ROM the Space Knight from Marvel, and the aforementioned Warrior Magazine series. I still have
hopes that Marvel will license ROM again or allow another company to package it up (maybe in exchange
for allowing Marvel to Masterwork the various ROM appearances in title like Powerman and Iron Fist).

But I think those Warrior magazines would look great bound in their oversized glorious black and white.

i always wanted to bind ROM. i acquired most of them from my neighbor when i was a kid, but i still haven't read the entire series.

i've decided bound editions of the original newsprint issues are my preferred format for reading comics. i liked the early marvel omnibus/masterworks okay, but as the years went by the "restoration" became more blatant, and in any case, a reprint in a different format is just not the same thing. (i mostly only care about that part for comics that came out in my own lifetime.)

give me paper.

Any chance it was LBC? They were the only company that I had used, and I haven't had any books bound since they were bought out.

Is this our best comic book binding thread?

In thinking of binding some, but I was going to use Houten. I thought I learned of them here at IMWAN but now I'm not sure. https://www.houchenbindery.com/services/comic-books/

Has anybody done some using their PDF covers with a user-supplied picture?
