It's Official: 'Beavis and Butt-Head' Returning to MTV
The animated series, which aired from 1993-97, is scheduled to premiere later this year.

6:39 PM 2/2/2011 by Kimberly Nordyke

After months of rumors, MTV confirmed Wednesday that Beavis and Butt-Head is returning to the network.

The animated series, created by Mike Judge, is scheduled to return later this year. The cast of MTV's Skins made the announcement at the network's upfront in New York.

The show, which aired from 1993-97, which features two heavy-metal music fans riffing on videos, trying to score with girls and generally just slacking off. Judge voiced the roles of both title characters.

The series spawned a feature film version, 1996's Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, that featured the voices of Bruce Willis, Demi Moore, Cloris Leachman, David Letterman and Robert Stack, among others.

Huge fan of this show in high school, along with everyone else. Hope Mike Judge returns to do the voices.

Funny that most kids who watch MTV have probably never heard of 'em.

Can you go home again? This show was very timely... not sure if they'll work outside of the 90's.

I share Hanzo's skepticism.

I think it'll work. I eagerly await their comments on Lady Gaga, etc...

Is the correct answer.

Except "not sure" is "certain it wont" for me.

It hasn't just aged badly, it's retrospectively quite rubbish.

Then you'll probably be in the minority who might find it funny. For about 5 seconds.

It was funny for its time. For a short while. It was unique & therefore seemed funnier than it was....

Watch any of it online now & it's utterly tiresome & very little of it is even remotely humorous, unless your type of humour is people shouting catchphrases in the style of literally holding up signs going "THIS IS HILLARIOUS".

Basically, it was 'Do the Bartman' funny. Funny like series 1 episodes of The Simpsons funny.

No one wants to return to Series 1 episodes of The Simpsons.

Since then, there's about 10001 amateurish looking Flash videos on You Tube that are funnier, let alone the stuff on "proper TV" that's eclipsed it.

It's going to absolutely reek, drown after 1 outing, & get promoted as an interesting throwback curio, not much else.

Aye, fuck it.

I'm going home 22 minutes early  First time in 6 months I've left before the design lads, they're all like "WTF? How do you turn the boiler off?!?"

They've never been aloud to touch the thermostat before

I don't think teenagers have gotten much smarter in general since then.

I'm with Dr. Evil...I'm looking forward to it.

I was a massive Beavis & Butthead fan, growing up. Despite that, I'm not really pumped they're coming back. And, I wouldn't be surprised if I don't watch it.

My brother got the the Mike Judge collection DVD of his favorite episodes... I gotta say a little goes a long way. I suspect this will go over as well as Ren & Stimpy's return on Spike TV...

I'd still love to see a collection of the complete series. But they never did that, did they? Getting rights to all those different music videos would be impossible, I'd bet.

It was funny for about 5 minutes. Thought I was living an adult life when it came out, so maybe not the intended audience.

The appeal wore out fast. Especially when they started being heroes instead of a complete satire of the MTV generation.

Butthead is way better, also. His voice is much more fascinating than Beavis' annoying nasal. When I wanted to kill in a meeting, I could do a spot on Butthead. The losers in life (same ones who hung onto "NOT!" way too long) were the ones going "Henh henh henh" like Beavis.

Our high school classes were about split down the middle doing Beavis or Butt-head's voice in the background. Whenever the teacher asked a question, inevitably someone would go "Uhhhhh...." like Butt-head.

Okay, we overdid it when I was in the Air Force with the "you said ______."

As in "I want the entire unit to be in formation tomorrow at 6:00 A.M."

"You said 'unit."
