Taken in context, Jaws is just an astonishing movie for a young director. Obviously not his first, but considering all the hardships that came from making it, it really demonstrated someone who had an innate ability to manifest a vision onto film.

Jaws or Close Encounters both seem obvious, but I prefer Jaws.

I went with Jaws, too. As for CEofTK, I've never cared for it. I almost went with Duel, but Jaws is the better movie. Still . . .

I used to drive a Valiant.

I recently re-watched Close Encounters......I did not remember how bad a family-man the Dreyfuss character was :) . He really was the worst.

I rewatch Duel every few years. It is amazingly tense and gripping for a TV movie. I'm also a big Columbo fan, and he did some episodes of that show, but they don't have the visual style of Duel and his later works. Dennis Weaver is also great in Duel.
