A truly outstanding comic book. It starts out a bit rough, but a couple stories in it really picks up.

If you don't like the comics, stanley, you are part of the problem!

I've already committed to liking this book.

I just hope it holds up.

It's got some moments that might seem out of place now. Overall the series works. And the art is quite nice. Don't go in expecting the greatest comic ever and you'll like it just fine.

I've never read anything with Steranko art that hasn't at least been interesting.

His Nick Fury stuff is BOOOTIFUL :ohyes:

I'm a bigger fan of Steranko's prime stuff than I am Neal Adams.

I've never seen a lot of Jim Steranko's art. What I have seen suggests that he was very innovative in his day, but in a way that looks rather dated now. That's the fate of many artists. Of course dated isn't necessarily a bad thing. Even if it doesn't date well, one can still appreciate how original it looked then.

It's been years since I read them (say, I have them all bagged and boarded upstairs; I ought to sell them), but I remember them being wild and full of imagination and totally different. Some of the best coloring of the era, crazy designs and visuals, and good stories.

Anyone who liked Steranko's SHIELD should really check out the first CASANOVA collection by Matt Fraction (Immortal Iron Fist) and Gabriel Ba. Clearly inspired by Steranko's run, but not derivative of it.

Steranko = good stuff.
I especially liked his Captain America.
I just never was a big Nick Fury fan, but Jim made me at least want to look at the artwork.

I think Ian has that one. If so, I liked it. The only problem I had was that his version was recoloured with modern (in the early or mid 90's) techniques but used the old colour pallets. That particular style od colouring I found really took away from the art. I am not actually sure if sterenko's art shoul be coloured in a modern way, because of how partiucular the style is, but if it can be that wasn't the right way to do it.
