Sad, sad news. Spider-Man is one of my favorite characters.
I didn't appreciate his artwork when I first discovered the character at 8 years old (I thought his drawing looked weird that Peter looked scrawny compared to Romita and Ross Andru), but as I got older, I could see how great it was.

Rest well, Sturdy Steve. Your drawings and stories brought me so much pleasure for so very long. Yes, I even learned some things from reading them.
Steve Ditko was the only comic creator whose work I had followed loyally all the way from childhood through today. People always said that he was an acquired taste, but I loved the art from the moment I saw it. I never thought it was weird or difficult, I thought it was lovely and delightful. There were other artists and writers whose work I enjoyed, but for Ditko I would follow to unfamiliar characters, to other publishers ... he never wavered, never disappointed, not for the 50-plus years that I read him or the 60-plus years that he was producing work.
I guess my comic book collection is finally, officially closed. New things to read, but nothing new to keep. Not anymore.

No one drew a better Spider-Man,no one drew a better Dr. Strange,no one drew a better comic book.

He’s been dead for a few days, I think. Could be, i suppose, but i thought it had been debunked. But it does seem like Ditko has been dead for a long time, since June 27th. His body was found on the 29th. But I think the false rumor was two weeks ago, and he's been dead for 10 days it appears.

Very sad. As a kid, I remember being absolutely fascinated by the costumes his characters wore. I loved it when he would have the character explain the functions of the costume.
