I just wanted there to be a thread about this fictional character who's almost a real person.

Sort of.

Before I clicked on this thread, I was like, "Isn't that a member of Spinal Tap? Am I going MAD?"

But then it turns out I am completely sane. In fact on a sanity scale of 1 to 10, my sanity goes up to 11.

During a pause in the Tap's schedule, Nigel worked as lead guitarist with Lenny and The Squigtones:

I did not know of this musical diversion; thank you.

Nigel was clearly in disguise as he's not chewing gum.

I lived this moment in real life. At Experience PRS one year, my wife was standing by me while I looked at one of the new amplifiers, which had a sold sign on it. All of a sudden, Nicky Moroch (who's played with several known bands) yells, "It's mine! You can't have it!" I turned and looked at him and said, "I know it's sold. I'm just looking." He said, "Don't even look. All of it's mine!" I mentioned it to him on Instagram a couple years ago, and he said, "I remember that, and you still can't have it!"

:lmao:

I love Nigel because he almost became real - he was interviewed by guitar magazines of the time as if he were an actual person, and people were in on the joke but...he was so beloved because the character as so detailed and so well observed. He's one of my favourite fictional characters of all time.
