Everyone knows that Dirty Harry is the number one Favorite Clint Eastwood as Lawman movie. If I did include that movie in this poll, it would come in first place. What is the second favorite?
My choice is Tightrope. Wes Block is a completely different cop than Harry Callahan.

Every Which Way but Loose. He and Clyde righted many a wrong in that movie.
Okay...I posted that before the poll went up. I voted for The Gauntlet.
I still think he and Clyde made a damned fine team, though.

Gauntlet. I love the way he is a cop who never reached his potential. He thinks at first he got picked for the mission because he's good. Then it dawns on him (because she yells it at him) that he was picked because he's a slacker.
That ripped it. So he's determined she's going to make it to Phoenix no matter what. Good climactic finish. We talked about it at length in elementary school when it first ran on network tv.
Guys are like that. We don't want to do a good job for its own sake. We'd much rather do a good job out of spite.

I love In the Line of Fire.
Not sure how many of the others I've seen. Maybe Blood Work.

Gauntlet is not just the pick of that litter, it's a must-see.

One word off. Substitute "my" (meaning you, not I) for "the" and you'll have it.
No love for Dirty Harry -- the character or the movies -- over here. I picked IN THE LINE OF FIRE because I like the film best out of the ones I've seen on Yvonne' list.
TIGHTROPE was way kinky. I was surprised that Clint allowed his character to be portrayed in such a way.
And Simon, I greatly prefer ANY WHICH WAY YOU CAN. It's so wrong and painful in every way. A superb drinking movie. But Philo Beddoe was not a lawman, per se.

I was disappointed in Blood Work. I picked the bad guy straight off. I hate it when that happens.

I liked the second one better than the first, but both rocked. I liked to use the dwarf, but would settle for the warrior if the dwarf controls were taken.

Didn't that one have an Elven Archer too? Or was that Golden Axe?

My GPA in college is approximately .5 lower due to this game alone. Me and my friends toyed with ESP over this game. We developed the ability to look at each other across a lecture hall and thought-beam "Do you want to cut out of here and play four man Gauntlet in the student center?"

Most Clint Eastwood fans that I've been friends with for many years say to me that Dirty Harry was the best Clint as a Lawman film ever. Clint is most identified as Dirty Harry in conversations when they think of him.

That was indeed gauntlet. The elf was quick as hell and shot fast, too, but had next to no health. I liked to wade into masses of ghosts with the dwarf.

It's a good poll, Yvonne. Even though (obviously) there are some people whose favorit is not Dirty Harry, the Dirty Harry factor would have totally skewed the poll. This allows for the cleaner discovery of information about these other roles.
Besides, Gauntlet is better than any Dirty Harry movie.

Hell yeah. I was recently in a bar that had been the pizzeria in which I played endless hours of Gauntlet. I could barely drink because I was so busy yapping about how awesome that game was to anyone who would listen, and annoyed because my Gauntlet home had been soiled by old drunk people.

Then, among said friends, your original statement has merit.
Big world, though.

This is a great poll idea, Yvonne!
While there are probably others like Frank out there who don't care for Harry Callahan, I think it's a no-brainer that he would have won the poll if he had been included. Besides, IMWAN is all about "second favourites."
I voted for Frank Horrigan in "In the Line of Fire." He's a tough old bastard and a great Secret service agent, and although haunted by guilt and self-doubt, he doesn't let it stop him from doing his job. Plus, he even finds time to romance a hot redhead!

Gauntlet man would kill Horrigan. Just roll the bus right over him because what're you going to do, Mr. Secret Service, run alongside touching your little earpiece?

"Gauntlet man?"
His name was Ben Shockley, and he loses points for fooling around with Sondra Locke.
