Let's say that Batman '66 inspired the studio to produce a campy companion program with Superman the following season -- I'm unfamiliar with 60s actors beyond the huge icons like Sean Connery and Bill Shatner. Who could have played Superman? Lois? Which villains would they use besides Lex?

Assuming they would have given it the same camp style of the Batman show... Superman / Clark Kent - Max Baer Jr. Lois Lane - Paula Prentiss Jimmy Olson - Ron Howard Perry White - Raymond Burr Lex Luthor - Telly Savales Brainiac - Don Adams Bizarro - Dan Haggerty General Zod - Patrick McNee Mr. Mxyzptlk - Mickey Dolenz Toyman - Bob Denver

They kinda already did---the '60s Superman musical was done in a camp style, and it was made as a special in the '70s. As for casting,Dick Gautier would've been good as Superman.

I think the guy who played Christopher Pike in Star Trek: TOS might be pretty good as Superman, but he's more of the Neal Adams / Chris Reeve variety of Superman than the Curt Swan / George Reeves version.

Tarzan actor Mike Henry looks the part, but I'm not familiar with his acting --

I'd have wanted Ron Ely to be cast as Superman...but damn, Sparks has nailed it with Ron Howard as Jimmy Olsen and pretty much every other casting choice. I do like Paula Prentiss as Lois...but my own preference would be Barbara Feldon as Lois.
I'd also have said Tina Louise as Lana Lang, Jack Lord as Steve Lombard and Barbara Eden as Cat Grant.

Just using Star Trek: TOS actresses, since I have little frame of reference --
Sherry Jackson as Lois Lane (I'd like to steal Lee Merriweather from Batman, but since she's "taken"...)
Emily Banks as Lana Lang ...
And
Nancy Kovack as Cat Grant ...

Totally OT -- but I think this is the cosplay guy that inspired Grant Morrison with the whole "sitting on the cloud" business.

1967 was prime time for Clint Walker.

This is what Clint Walker looked like on the set of the Dirty Dozen, which filmed around the time a Superman '67 show would have filmed.

Marlo Thomas from That Girl '66 would be Lois Lane.

He'd be great as well. He's got that same kinda manly vibe as Mike Henry. (As far as looks, no idea about either guy's acting.)

Clint Walker would've been good. Ron Howard as Jimmy Olsen, though, is the most perfect casting of all time.

He might be just a tetch young for a 1967 Superman -- he was born in 1954. I know Jimmy Olsen is a young character, but depending on where Ron Howard is at in his development, might be too young.

Why are you trying to cast 1970's characters like Morgan Edge and Steve Lombard in a 1960's Superman show?
Because it's an imaginary thread just for fun?

You know, Jeff Bridges might have been a good Jimmy Olsen. He was doing Lassie in the 60's -- might be a little too handsome, but was about the right age.VIDEO
