http://www.usatoday.com/life/comics/201 ... ents_n.htmQuote: Starting this summer, the publisher will re-number its entire DC Universe of titles, revamping famous characters such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and others from its 76-year history for a more modern and diverse 21st century.
The first book to be released under this new era: Justice League No. 1, out Aug. 31, a series by writer Geoff Johns and artist Jim Lee that reunites the famous lineup of Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Wonder Woman and Aquaman.
Johns promises a focus on the interpersonal relationships within DC's trademark superteam. "What's the human aspect behind all these costumes?" he says. "That's what I wanted to explore."

TOLD YA! Posted by Ross on Sat May 01, 2010 7:51 pm viewtopic.php?p=1660719#p1660719Quote: A reboot may be sooner than we know. I have a crazy theory but I think it just might be true...
DC has a problem in that they are bringing Bruce Wayne Batman back and they don't know what to do with Dick Grayson without him looking like a lame duck. They just went through the same thing with Barry Allen and Wally West. The Superman marriage is another narrative hole I am sure they wish they could get out of.
DC Is about to begin the Booster Gold led time travelling mini-series Timepoint. it is said to be leading up to the next line wide crossover, the Flash led Flashpoint, which is suuposed to deal with time in the DCU and lead to major ramifications.
I think DC is going to address the aging rates of it's characters and somehow many, maybe all, will de-age a bit. By the end of the series Dick Grayson will be Robin, Wally West will Be Kid Flash, Donna Troy will be Wonder Girl. It might even be a way to undo the super-marriage. Tim Drake, Bart Allen, et al will still exist but possibly in new identities.
Just a hunch, but I bet they have something like that up their sleeves.

Hands up, everyWAN who held themselves back from making the same reply to this that I wanted to. Seriously ... Geoff Johns, Jim Lee ... I don't care how many times they reboot these characters and series, the same stale ideas and artwork will go into making them, and the same results will ensue. Okay. This will definitively prove whether or not modernising the distribution method is enough to save the monthlies from death. Because the content (whether or not you like it) won't be appreciably different than what's been published for years.

Looks like Superman will finally be losing the red trunks, based on that LEE JLA image. He gives everyone the same exact collar though!

They're about a year later than the prediction I made a long time ago. I figured they would do it last year for their 75th anniversary.

Not Lee's best Superman, but I'll give it a shot when the trade comes out.

That "S" on Superman's chest might as well stand for "suck". We don't need another S symbol.

Quote: Johns promises a focus on the interpersonal relationships within DC's trademark superteam. "What's the human aspect behind all these costumes?" he says. "That's what I wanted to explore." Good. All those stupid scenes where they use their powers to fight villains just get in the way of what I want to read in a superhero comic.

I wonder though..is this a renumbering or a reboot? or both? I think they would want to let Morrison finish off batman inc, Finch Dark knight, Johns on GL...etc some ongoing storylines...some stories may be rebooted but it looks like some may just be renumbered and continued.
I think.

Dick Giordano wrote: Did Crisis work as a story? Yep! Did it neaten up our universe? You bet! Did it give DC Comics a launch pad to the future? Of course! Did we take advantage of all the opportunities presented by the dramatic conclusion of the landmark series called Crisis on Infinite Earths ... ? Well ... yes and no. A full answer would take too much space here, and I don’t want to spoil our celebration.

Continued from the USA Today story: Quote: In September, more than 50 more first issues will debut, introducing readers to stories that are grounded in each character's specific legend but also reflect today's real-world themes and events. Lee spearheaded the redesign of more than 50 costumes to make characters more identifiable and accessible to comic fans new and old.
"We looked at what was going on in the marketplace and felt we really want to inject new life in our characters and line," says Dan DiDio, who co-publishes DC with Lee. "This was a chance to start, not at the beginning, but at a point where our characters are younger and the stories are being told for today's audience." If DC is rebooting and bringing back the original Teen Titans, I will buy an iPad and start downloading their comics every month.
