"More than 80 artists were asked to participate by drawing a custom sketch on the blank cover of a specially produced "Ultimate Spider-Man #100," with 100 total custom covers created. Proceeds from the auctions will benefit the Hero Initiative's efforts to "provide a financial safety net for yesterdays creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life and an avenue back into paying work."

So many really good ones there. I was going to pick a couple as favorites, but I can't! Nice to see Alex Saviuk again, been a long time since I've seen anything at all from him.

The two I would want, reallly really want, are the john Romita sr. and Todd McFarlane ones. those are the ones that would mean something to me

I like many of them, but the Al Milgrom one really pops out (could be the colour).

I don't like the eyes on Milgrom, for me the eyes can make or break a Spidey.

Bob Hall is nice, Alex Saviuk, Hembeck is goofy fun, J Bone is cute, Lisner is nice (well, i don't need the thong one). But McFarlane and Romita would be the ones I would have emotional ties too.

Those ones would probably give you the best return on your investment over time too. ;-)

I really enjoyed Milgrom's work on PPTSS back in the day.

The Herb Trimpe piece is funny.

Besides the obvious favorites(Romita, Romita Jr.), the Alan Davis, Mike Golden, and Tim Sale covers look good too.

Those are very cool. It would have been nice to see Ditko and Byrne. Erik Larsen, too. Those seem to be the most obvious names missing.

Larsen said he was too busy-swamped.

There was a rumor Ditko was actually going to do it, but I guess not. Ditko being Ditko.

Byrne of course is Byrne.

I actually did start a thread about this (didn't have all the pictures then) as something for you guys to get me for my birthday.

Nobody started any kind of chip in or anything :( My thread was mostly ignored

Nice idea! It was nice to see Jim Mooney and Sal Buscema's Spidey again. Herb Trimpe's WAS funny annd Jim Starlin's was good, too.

Well, I heard that immediately after completing the covers, the artists were decapitated, and their brains were served to Quesada, JMS, Millar, and Bendis, so...

I liked the Milgrom (front) image a lot. He's never been one of my favorites, but his PPTSS run looked terrific.

Anyone find the magazine cover from which Land lifted that Black Cat shot?

Really liked the Golden one. That Joe Q version was hideous! It looked like an anorexic superhero in Spider-Man's costume.
