This version treads heavily on the Grant Morrison iteration (which I did not read). The art was rather simple and open, a pleasant surprise. The story (about a character using Danny the Ambulance to go back in time and prevent the situation they found themselves in) was more accessible to me than most of what Morrison has done in these later years, however, it pretty much sucked as a jumping on point. Had I not known the original Doom Patrol's history and the peripheral stuff I gathered about Morrison's turn, I wouldn't have understood anything. To me, that's its greatest failing, that it was very, very insular. You had to already be in on the joke to get the joke so to speak.
I'd give it

If I was regularly reading some other book, I might keep going with this, but this isn't going to be the book that gets me back into the hobby.
Now onto Comixology to find this week's candidate.
A question for any of you with a Comixology account and an Amazon account: did you link the two? If so, what benefits have you found from this?
