Here are my opinions/predictions, which I will posted elsewhere.
Infinite Crisis was a complete mess. They can deny it from here to tomorrow and I will never believe that the editors didn't mess with the story and are now trying to retroactively fix things to bringing back at least another Earth. They severely underestimated the love people still have for the multiple earths and if they think for one second that it would have sold nearly as well without the Earth 2 tease and characters, they are completely out of touch.
What I think will happen is the following:
Kingdom Come, which always had an Earth 2 flavor, will be revealed to be the future of Earth 2. When I interviewed Ross a few years ago and asked him about the similarities to earth 2, he smiled and did not deny it.
Kal-l busting out of his grave is a retro fix to his horribly done death in IC. However, the twist will be that he bust out on Earth 2! All those from Earth who died during the either crisis turn up alive on Earth 2.

Interesting.
Can someone (hopefully Allen) post a three sentence summary of what happened in Infinite Crisis? Not the fights, but Earth-wise? Or Luthor-wise, or Monitor-wise. Whatever it takes to tell where things stood and where they now stand.
I found it incoherent. I still have the issues if there's some diagram in there that I should consult.

That sums it up perfectly. Basically they teased us that the Earths were coming back, Alex Luthor was the real villain and he mentally manipulated Kal-l and Earth Prime Superboy (who went nuts) to do his bidding. Kal-l went out like a girl against the Earth Prime Superboy, who they stole every idea about him from Kid Miracleman (which was done much better). Now we have a melded earth, that acknowledges that Superman was around in WWII.
Now no one knows what the hell is going on.

Starman, basically saying he is the Kingdom Come Starman.

Everytime Superboy punches, Marvel and DC make less sense.

And sadly, as dumb a device as it is, they could use those Superboy punches to clean everything up.

That's the way I see it---as long as everything gets cleaned up, I don't really care what the explanation is. Superboy punched reality? Okay, whatever. Works for me.

Except it's been the other way around!! Superboy punches reality and Jason Todd spontaneously returns to life inside his grave? Blech.....

My gut feeling is that we are going to see a return to Earth-2 as soon as 52 is over (well, we've BEEN seeing it since IC ended, but it will be revealed to us after 52). This comes not from any coherency in the story of IC, but from the recent reprints of 70s Earth-2 trades of JSA and Huntress, and a few more upcoming.

Agree and I still insist this was a retroactive decision. Gohnny wrote: That's the way I see it---as long as everything gets cleaned up, I don't really care what the explanation is. True but knowing the talent involved, they will probably screw it up later.

A while back I heard that the decision was made going into IC to return to a multiverse, or at least an Earth-2. Then midway through the powers that be chickened out and that's why it was such a mess. Perhaps the retroactivity is doubly so, a return to the original plan.

Makes sense. It seemed like it was going in the right direction in the first 2 issues.

"Superman is about action."

Allen - I agree with you 100%..you can almost see the editorial meddlin as IC progressed...hopefully Johns will have things make more sense in JSA..and tell good stories in the meantime as well.

Thanks Linda. I forgot the most important thing we learned in IC. You're the best.
Man that was some darn purty writing.

IAWTP. Just give us something fun to read now. When it sucks again in a different way (as it inevitably will sooner or later) we can find something else that's good.

I don't mind mediocre stuff, like the Electric Superman. I can just stop reading it until its back to normal. Its the mean spirited, destroy what we know, stuff that makes me want to quit reading any new books.
