Didn't hear about this until yesterday, but comedian Mitch Hedberg was found dead in a New Jersey hotel room on March 31. A very funny guy in the old one liner tradition, probably best described as Steven Wright's young drunk/hippie cousin. I never did go to see him live. He came through St. Louis a few weeks ago, but I was busy and figured I would catch him next time through.

You know they call corn-on-the-cob, "corn-on-the-cob", but that's how it comes out of the ground. They should just call it corn, and every other type of corn, corn-off-the-cob. It's not like if someone cut off my arm they would call it "Mitch", and then re-attached it, and call it "Mitch-all-together".

Mitch Hedberg was a superior comedy talent. Died from a congenital heart defect. If you've never heard any of his material, I urge you to seek out some mp3s or something. Damned funny guy.

From what I hear, an exceptionally nice guy too. Young. Energetic. Leaves a wife behind, also a comedian, who traveled together with him to many of their gigs.

I'm hoping these people pushing for an HBO special are also looking at ways to help support his wife as well during this difficult time.
