Jack Tripper has a different name ("David Bell") and is a film student rather than a cooking student, the two girls are "Jenny" and "Samantha" rather than Janet and Chrissy (the actresses are not so pretty but they're much funnier), Mr. Roper is "George" (like in the original British series) rather than Stanley. The writing is sharper, the jokes are better, it's more adult and less stupid. I guess they had to dumb it down further to get it on the air.
Wow, I grew up watching Three's Company so seeing anyone else but Suzanne Sommers and Joyce DeWitt as Jack's roommates seems off?

West Ham United fight song.
It was more like the original UK version Man About the House, IMO. I liked Three's Company as it was (for nostalgic reasons), but I'd have watched that. Man About the House was much, much more adult (or juvenile, I suppose) than Three's Company.

They did Father, Dear Father, Love Thy Neighbour in Australia and Are You Being Served Down Under?...but no Man About The House (Down Under).
There was a whole weird phenomenon in the 70's where British actors would come out here and do versions of their UK shows, usually involving only one or two original cast members and with Aussie replacements for the supporting roles. None of these shows lasted very long, but I loved them as a kid.

Yes, some of them are fun in that British sitcom kind of way. If I went to England I think it'd have to be via time machine so I could visit early 1970's London. Any other version would be a disappointment.
I'll have to explore more of it. We recently got a TV that can access YouTube so I may have to watch some old sitcoms. The newer ones never seem to grab me, but I do love even the worst of the old ones. Have you ever watched Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em? It's been a favourite of mine since I was a kid.
