The Justice League of America.

The Fantastic Four.

The Fantastic Four, but there's something about those WWII Invaders that gets me.

The Justice Society is the first.
The Justice League (IMO) is the best.
The others (IMO) are the rest.

The Legion Of Super Heroes, followed by the JSA and The Avengers.

I stopped buying comics in 1987... I only recently started picking up Byrne's stuff since then and have limited my new comics purchases to JB's stuff. So, when I think of super teams, I'm thinking about 17 years ago or more...

X-Men (Pick and choose from these members: Cyclops, Marvel Girl/Phoenix, Angel, Iceman, Beast, Wolverine, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Banshee, Rogue)

The Avengers when I was a kid, then X-Men as a young adult during the JB period, FF under Simonson. Not really a DC guy, but I always liked the TeenTitans as a kid, even more than when they became the rage with Wolfman-Perez.

The Great Lakes Avengers. I'm serious.

I also have a soft spot for The Legion Of Super Heroes and the Wolfman-Perez TeenTitans.

Like Dan I have not collected comics since 1989, started picking up doom partorl but that's not really collecting, nothing on the stand really grabs me.

How many members still collect monthly titles and how many titles?

I only buy whatever book Byrne is doing plus Planetary.
If Walt Simonson or Alan Davis or Perez puts something out I'll buy it but I just can't get into what's being published today.

I was looking at the four you originally mention, Trevor. You can make an argument that three of them - the FF, the original X-Men and the Doom Patrol - are sort of the same team. There are many similarities between them, anyway.

Speaking of what's being published today...

While I was waiting for some prescriptions to be filled at my local supermarket today, I wandered to the magazine rack to waste a little time. Lo and behold, they had COMICS! Mostly kid stuff - Archie, Sonic the Hedgehog, etc. Nestled in there, though, were a few mainstream Marvel and DC titles - including The Amazing Spider-Man.

Being an old Spider-Man fan, I had to flip through it to see how it looked and see just what was going in good ol' Peter Parker's life. The art was so-so, the snippets of dialog I caught were OK. Really playing the Mr. & Mrs. Peter Parker thing. Maybe it was the black borders and the coloring, and maybe it was just this issue, but they seemed to playing Spider-Man as a really dark character - not my Spidey!

This issue, as I'm sure any of you who still read today's comics probably already know, was a Gwen Stacy story (first thing I noticed, on the splash page, was Gwen's name on a tombstone - I thought, "geez - still fighting the ghost of Gwen?"). The ending, though, caught my attention...

I've never collected titles, I've read comics. I held onto them, which might amount to collecting, but I never did it just to collect. Every once in a while I think, "I should really go find those 10 missing Avengers from 1977, just to round out my collection." Then I come to my senses and save my money for something I really want.

James you are on the money by what I mean by collecting, for me the reason for buying something is because you enjoy reading it, not for the sake of the resale value or having every issue of that specific title.
